Sign-in help

Signing in, through the right door

AltiusForms has two front doors: the customer area, for your subscription, and your instance, where your forms live. Here is which one to use, and what to do if something gets stuck.

Try it right now: the demo

An instance open to everyone, no sign-up, reset every 24 hours. Copy the credentials, open the demo, sign in.

Two different places

Customer area or instance: which one to open?

These are two sites, with two separate accounts. Most people only need the instance.

Pay for and manage the subscription → customer area. Fill in and manage forms → your instance.

Customer area – managing your instances

What you do there

  • Create an instance and choose the plan: Free or Pro
  • Pay for the subscription, change card, download invoices (secure payment by Stripe)
  • Track the instance's storage and status, start or stop it
  • Show the instance's initial password and the licence key
  • Order a domain name, cancel the subscription, delete an instance

Who has an account there

The person who buys: the owner of the instance. Invited members don't need one.

What you don't do there

  • No forms, no responses

Your instance – where your forms live

What you do there

  • Create and fill in forms, together and live
  • See and export the answers
  • Invite colleagues, manage users and roles
  • Sign in with the mobile app
  • Set up your account security: password, two-factor authentication

Who signs in there

The owner and all invited members, with the instance's email (or username) and password.

What you don't do there

  • No billing, no subscription

Your instance address

Where to find it

Each organisation has its own instance at its own address, for example your-name.altiusforms.com, or at its own domain name.

  • In the welcome email. When the instance is ready, its creator receives the email “Your AltiusForms instance is ready”, with the address and the login.
  • In the customer area. “My instances” page: each instance shows its address and an “Open” button.
  • In your invitation. The link in the invitation email leads to the instance that invites you. Later on, ask the person who invited you for the address.
  • On a QR code or a form link. A form's address starts with its instance's address.
Your account

Owner or invited member

You created the instance

You have two accounts: the customer-area account and the instance's administrator account. In the instance, your login is your email address.

The instance's initial password is never sent by email: show it once on the instance's page in the customer area (your customer-area password is asked again), then change it when you first sign in.

You were invited

You received an invitation email. Its link opens a page where you choose your username and password: your account is then created in the instance.

The link is valid for 7 days. If it has expired, ask the person who invited you to send the invitation again.

Who can do what in an instance? Users and roles

Forgotten password

Each place has its own

The two passwords are independent: changing one does not change the other.

In your instance

On the instance's sign-in page, choose “Forgot password?”: a link to choose a new one arrives by email.

In the customer area

On the customer area's sign-in page, choose “Forgotten your password?” and follow the link you receive by email.

Reset the customer-area password

The initial password

It is shown only once. Lost it? Use “Forgot password?” on your instance, with your account's email address.

No email? Check your spam folder, then make sure you are at the right address: instance or customer area.

Two-factor authentication

In your instance, open your profile, “Security” section, then “Configure 2FA”. Scan the code with an authenticator app: at each sign-in it gives you a six-digit code.

Keep the recovery codes somewhere safe: they let you in if you lose your phone.

Your company account

An instance can be linked to your company account: Microsoft, Google or another OpenID Connect provider. The sign-in page then shows a button under “or with your company account”, and you sign in without yet another password.

Ask for this sign-in on your instance

Mobile app

Signing in from your phone

The app first needs to know which instance to connect to.

  1. Install the app

AltiusForms, on the App Store or Google Play, for phone and tablet.

  2. Give the address

Tap “Sign in to my workspace” and enter your instance address in “Workspace address”. Or tap “Scan a QR code” and point at a form's code: the app finds the instance by itself.

  3. Sign in

With the email and password of your instance account.

Without an account

Filling in a form without signing in

You don't need an account to answer a public form: its link or its QR code is enough.

  • A link or a QR code. Open it in your browser, fill in, send.
  • An access code. Some forms ask for a code: the one the organiser gave you.
  • In the app. Tap “Browse public forms”, “Continue without an account” or “Scan a QR code”.
Still stuck

I still can't sign in

  1. Check the address

Your instance account does not work on altiusforms.com, and vice versa.

  2. Check your login

In the instance: your email or your username. Watch out for capital letters and for spaces copied into the password by mistake.

  3. Ask your administrator

For an invited account, your instance's administrator can send the invitation again or check your account.

  4. Check the service status
