WordPress plugin

Your forms in WordPress, in one block

The free plugin connects your WordPress site to your AltiusForms instance. Pick a form in the editor: it appears in the page, opens in a popup, is filled in together live or publishes its results.

shortcode

The form is drawn in your page with your theme's fonts. Answers and files go straight to your instance.

[altiusforms form="FORM-TOKEN"]

No cookies, no tracking. The instance's script is only loaded on pages that contain a form.

What the plugin adds

Everything your instance does, from the WordPress editor

The “AltiusForms form” block lists the forms of your instance. Pick one, then how to show it; a preview appears straight away in the editor.

Filled in together, live

Your visitors join an open session and see the others' answers appear as they are typed. The block offers the sessions in progress.

Five ways to show

Inline form, frame that adjusts its height, button that opens a popup, shared session or results table.

Answers stay in your instance

WordPress stores no answers and no files: everything goes to your instance, where the form's API, webhooks and exports pick it up.

Your site allowed in one click

If a form does not allow your site yet, the block says so; with an integration key, the “Allow this site” button sorts it out without leaving WordPress.

Light, dark or automatic

Forms follow the appearance chosen in the settings: light, dark or the visitor's system, popups and frames included.

Shortcode and widget

For classic themes and page builders: the [altiusforms] shortcode and an “AltiusForms form” widget.

Installation

Set up in three steps

  1. Download the plugin

The file altiusforms-wordpress-1.0.0.zip, kept as it is: WordPress unzips it itself.

  2. Add it to WordPress

In the dashboard: Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin. Choose the file, then Install Now and Activate Plugin.

  3. Connect your instance

In Settings › AltiusForms, enter your instance's address and, if you wish, an integration key created in the instance under API & Integration › Integration keys. Then Test the connection.

Usage

A block, a shortcode or a widget

  • The block. In a page, add the “AltiusForms form” block, then choose the form and how it appears in the right-hand panel.
  • The shortcode. [altiusforms form="…" mode="…"] Modes: inline, frame, popup (with label for the button text), collab (with code for the session) and results (with results, page_size and export). The token is the string of digits and letters in the form's public address.
  • The widget. Under Appearance › Widgets, the “AltiusForms form” widget puts a form in a sidebar or a footer.

For a frame or a popup, the form must allow your site: the form's “Embedding on other sites” setting, or the block's “Allow this site” button. The inline form works on every site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before you install

Are answers stored in WordPress?

No. The visitor's browser sends their answers and files straight to your AltiusForms instance. WordPress only keeps the plugin's settings and, for five minutes, the list of your forms.

Does the plugin cost anything?

No, it is free and licensed under the GPL. It also works with the free AltiusForms plan: every plan has the same features. See pricing

Is the integration key required?

No. Without a key, every public or code-protected form can already be shown. With a key, the block lists your forms and their embedding settings, finds results tables, offers the sessions in progress and can allow your site in one click.

What can the integration key do?

An administrator creates it in the instance, under API & Integration › Integration keys. “Read only” lists the published forms, their embedding rules and their public results; “Manage the integration” also lets the site add its address to a form's allowed sites and list the shared sessions. It only opens the integration API, never private answers; it stays on your WordPress server and can be revoked at any time.

Why a ZIP file and not wordpress.org?

The plugin is not yet published in the wordpress.org directory. Until then, download it here; once it is there, WordPress will offer its updates like for any other plugin.

What is left if I delete the plugin?

Nothing: its settings, the key, the cached list of forms and the widget settings are deleted. Your forms and answers stay in your instance.
