In a basement, a forest or the mountains, the mobile app keeps your answers, photos and positions queued and sends them to your instance as soon as the network returns. Coming soon to iPhone, iPad and Android.
The network does not always follow
Forest surveys, checks in an underground car park, visits to alpine pastures: wherever the work happens, the connection is often missing. A regular web form then loses what you typed or refuses to send. The AltiusForms mobile app, coming soon to iPhone, iPad and Android, is designed for exactly these situations.
Connecting to your instance
Each customer has their own instance, so on first launch the app asks where to connect:
- enter your instance address, for example
your-name.altiusforms.com; - or scan a form's QR code: the app recognises the instance and opens the form directly.
You then sign in with your usual account. Credentials are kept in the phone's secure keychain. If your session expires while you are typing, a sheet asks you to sign in again without losing what you entered.
Filling in without a network
Once connected, you fill in forms as usual. If there is no network when you send, the answer is not lost: it goes into a queue on the device, together with its files.
A connection indicator always shows whether you are online and how many answers are waiting. As soon as the network returns, the app sends the queue to your instance, answers and files included. You can carry out several surveys during the day and sync everything back at the office.
What the phone adds
The app uses the device's sensors for questions that need them:
- photos and videos taken on the spot, audio recording to dictate a remark;
- GPS position to locate the survey;
- area on a map: draw the outline of a plot or sector directly on screen;
- signature with a finger;
- tables with typed columns, data lists and attachments.
Form conditions apply just as on the web: questions appear or become required depending on your answers.
Also for co-filling sessions
When the network is available, the app can also join a co-filling session with its code and browse the instance's public forms. It follows the device language: French, German, Italian or English.
What happens to the data
The app only keeps answers until they are sent. They are transmitted only to your organisation's instance, which handles them like any other submission: visible under Responses, on the Map for positions, analysable in the Studio and exportable.
Coming soon to the stores
The app is being published on the App Store and Google Play. It works with every AltiusForms instance, whatever the plan. Meanwhile, your forms can be filled in from the phone's browser.
