Reference lists, links and translation
Reference lists
When a list of choices is long or changes often (municipalities, sites, items, staff), don't copy it into every form: create a reference list.
- Open the Reference lists menu.
- Create a list and choose its source:
- Internal table — you type or import the values in AltiusForms;
- External API — AltiusForms reads the values from a web address in your own system.
- In the builder, on a choice question, select that list as the source of the options.
Update the list in one place: every form using it follows. Lists are also available in the mobile app.
Link forms together
Two question types create links between your data:
- Link to another form — the respondent picks an existing response from another form. Example: a service report pointing to the building record already entered.
- Link to a unique column — the respondent picks a value from a column whose values are all unique, such as an inventory number.
Links prevent typos and make it easy to group responses later.
Forms in four languages
The interface and form content are available in French, German, Italian and English. Every text (title, question, choice, help) can be entered in each language; respondents see the version in their own language.
If your instance enables it, machine translation suggests missing texts from the source language. Always review the suggestion before publishing, especially for trade terms.
